32. ಆದರೆ ‘ಯೋಹಾನನು ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದ್ದು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಅಧಿಕಾರದಿಂದ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ, ಆಗ ಜನರು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ಮಾತಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯೋಹಾನನನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೆಂದು ನಂಬಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
