5. ನಿನೆವೆಯ ಜನರು ದೇವರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದರು. ಆ ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಯೋಚಿಸಲು ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರುತಾಗಿ ಶೋಕವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದರು. ನಗರದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಉನ್ನತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಕೀಳು ಜನರ ತನಕ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
