26. ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟನು; ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ತನ್ನ ಆಣೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೂತಿದ್ದವರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವಳನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದವನಾದನು.

26. ರಾಜ ಹೆರೋದನು ಬಹಳ ವ್ಯಸನಗೊಂಡನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಆ ಹುಡುಗಿಗೆ ಏನು ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಕೊಡುವೆನೆಂದು ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆರೋದನ ಸಂಗಡ ಊಟಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜನರು ಆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವಳು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಲು ಹೆರೋದನು ಇಚ್ಛಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
