19. ಆಗ ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನೆಂಬ ಅಡ್ಡಹೆಸರಿನ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ತನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಗೆ ತೋರಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯ ಸ್ತಬ್ಧನಾದನು. ರಾಜನು ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, “ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಕನಸಾಗಲಿ, ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆದರಿಸದಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನು, “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಆ ಕನಸು ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಫಲಿಸಲಿ, ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥವು ನಿನ್ನ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳ ಅನುಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿ!

19. ಆಗ ಬೆಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು ಒಂದು ಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿಸ್ಮಿತನಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳವಳಗೊಂಡನು. ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ-- ಬೆಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನೇ, ಕನಸಾಗಲಿ ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳವಳಪಡಿಸದಿರಲಿ ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಬೆಲ್ತೆಶ ಚ್ಚರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಆ ಕನಸು ನಿನ್ನ ವೈರಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥವು ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೂ ಆಗಲಿ.

19. ಆಗ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನು (ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನು) ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ಗಂಟೆಯವರೆಗೆ ಮೌನವಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಗೆ ತೋರಿದ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಗಾಬರಿಪಡಿಸಿದವು. ಆಗ ರಾಜನು, “ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನೇ, ಕನಸು ಅಥವಾ ಕನಸಿನ ಅರ್ಥವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಭಯಗೊಳಿಸದಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಧೈರ್ಯ ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಬೇಲ್ತೆಶಚ್ಚರನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಈ ಕನಸು ನಿನ್ನ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಫಲಿಸಲಿ. ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥವು ನಿನ್ನ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳ ಅನುಭವಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
