12. ಅರಸನು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಎದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಪರಿವಾರದವರಿಗೆ, “ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಉಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಕೇಳಿರಿ; ನಾವು ಹಸಿವೆಯಿಂದ ಸಾಯುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂಬುವುದನ್ನು ಅವರು ಬಲ್ಲರು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಪಾಳೆಯವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾವು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಜೀವ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಎಂದನು.

12. ಆಗ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ರಾಜನು ತನ್ನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆದ್ದನು. ರಾಜನು ತನ್ನ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ, “ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಸೈನಿಕರು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾವು ಬಹಳ ಹಸಿದಿದ್ದೇವೆಂಬುದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಹೊಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪಾಳೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ‘ಇಸ್ರೇಲರು ನಗರದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿ ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು ಅವರ ನಗರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಬಹುದು’ ಎಂದು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
