4. ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಜಯಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಹೊರಟು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಜನರ ಒಟ್ಟು ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

4. ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವನ್ನು ಬದಲಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಾವೀದನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಯೋವಾಬನು ದೇಶದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.
