2:3. ಮೊದಲು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆ ಜನರಂತೆಯೇ ಜೀವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಶರೀರ ಭಾವದ ನಮ್ಮ ಇಚ್ಛೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲು ನಾವು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಹ ಮನಸ್ಸುಗಳು ಬಯಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾವು ಮಾಡಿದೆವು. ನಾವು ದುಷ್ಟಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದೆವು. ನಮ್ಮ ಆ ಜೀವಿತದ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಾವು ಆಗಲೇ ದೇವರ ಕೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ನಮಗೂ ಇತರ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಯಾವ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

2:3. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಶರೀರಭಾವದ ಆಶೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಧೀನರಾಗಿ ಶರೀರಕ್ಕೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೂ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಇಚ್ಛೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನಡೆದು ಮಿಕ್ಕಾದವರಂತೆ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ದೇವರ ಕೋಪದ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿದ್ದೆವು.
