17:27. ಆದರೆ ತೆರಿಗೆ ವಸೂಲಿಗಾರರನ್ನು ನಾವೇಕೆ ಕೋಪಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕು? ನೀನು ತೆರಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡು. ಸರೋವರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಮೀನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿ. ನಿನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಮೊದಲನೇ ಮೀನಿನ ಬಾಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆ, ಅದರ ಬಾಯೊಳಗೆ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ತೆರಿಗೆಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಒಂದು ನಾಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, ತೆರಿಗೆ ವಸೂಲಿ ಮಾಡುವವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡು. ಅದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ತೆರಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಂತಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

17:27. ಹೀಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಭ್ಯಂತರಪಡಿಸದಂತೆ ನೀನು ಸಮುದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಗಾಳವನ್ನು ಹಾಕು; ಆಗ ಮೊದಲು ಬರುವ ಮಾನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅದರ ಬಾಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆದರೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ನಾಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವಿ; ಅದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನದೂ ನಿನ್ನದೂ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ

17:27. But so that we don't offend them, go to the lake and throw out a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth, you will find a four drachma coin. Take that and give it to them for me and you."
