1:4. ಎದೋಮ್ಯರು ಒಂದುವೇಳೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಯಾರು: “ನಾವು ನಾಶವಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಹೌದು, ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವೆವು.” ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು, “ಅವರು ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿದರೆ ನಾನು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಜನರು, “ಎದೋಮ್ ದುಷ್ಟ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಅನ್ನುವರು.

1:4. ಎದೋಮು--ನಾವು ಬಡಕಲಾದೆವು, ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ತಿರಿಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಾಳಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವೆವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೂ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ--ಅವರು ಕಟ್ಟಬಹುದು, ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಡುವೆನು; ಅದಕ್ಕ ವರು--ದುಷ್ಟತನದ ಮೇರೆಯೂ ಕರ್ತನ ನಿತ್ಯ ಕೋಪದ ಜನಾಂಗವೆಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುವರು.

1:4. Edom says, "Though we are devastated, we will once again build the ruined places." So the LORD who rules over all responds, "They indeed may build, but I will overthrow. They will be known as the land of evil, the people with whom the LORD is permanently displeased.

1:4. Esau's descendants in Edom may say, "We have been shattered, but we will rebuild the ruins." But the LORD of Heaven's Armies replies, "They may try to rebuild, but I will demolish them again. Their country will be known as 'The Land of Wickedness,' and their people will be called 'The People with Whom the LORD Is Forever Angry.'

1:4. Whereas Edom saith, We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places; thus saith Jehovah of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and men shall call them The border of wickedness, and The people against whom Jehovah hath indignation for ever.

1:4. If Edom says, "We are shattered but we will rebuild the ruins," the LORD of hosts says, "They may build, but I will tear down, and they will be called 'the wicked country,' and 'the people with whom the LORD is angry forever.'"

1:4. The people of Edom might say, "We were destroyed, but we will go back and rebuild our cities." But the Lord All-Powerful says, "If they rebuild their cities, I will destroy them again." That is why people say Edom is an evil country—a nation the Lord hates forever.

1:4. Whereas Edom says, "We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places;" thus says Yahweh of Hosts, "They shall build, but I will throw down; and men will call them \'The Wicked Land,\' even the people against whom Yahweh shows wrath forever."
