1:9. ಆಗ ಯೋನನು, “ನಾನು ಇಬ್ರಿಯನು, ನಾನು ಭೂಪರಲೋಕಗಳ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವವನು. ಆತನು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸಾಗರಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದಾತನು” ಎಂದನು.

1:9. ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶ ಯಾವದು, ನೀನು ಯಾವ ಜನಾಂಗದವನು, ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು ಅಂದರು. ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಇಬ್ರಿಯನು; ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನೂ ಒಣಗಿದ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿದ ಪರ ಲೋಕದ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವವ ನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

1:9. He said to them, "I am a Hebrew! And I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land."
