1:2. “ನಿನೆವೆಯು ಮಹಾದೊಡ್ಡ ನಗರ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಜನರ ಅನೇಕ ತರದ ದುಷ್ಟಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಆ ನಗರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಜನರಿಗೆ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು.”

1:2. ಹೇಗಂದರೆ--ಎದ್ದು ಆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾದ ನಿನೆವೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಕೂಗು; ಅವರ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವು ನನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿದೆ ಎಂಬದು.
