39:9. ನನ್ನ ಧಣಿಯು ಈ ಮನೆಯ ಸರ್ವಾಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರೂ ತನ್ನ ಧರ್ಮಪತ್ನಿಯಾದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಅಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಿರಲು ಇಂಥಾ ಮಹಾ ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

39:9. ಈ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡವ ನಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನೀನು ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿರುವದ ರಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನಲ್ಲದೆ ನನಗೆ ಮತ್ತೇನೂ ಮರೆಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಈ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯಮಾಡಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡುವದು ಹೇಗೆ ಅಂದನು.

39:9. There is no one greater in this household than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. So how could I do such a great evil and sin against God?"

39:9. No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God."

39:9. he is not greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

39:9. He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except yourself, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?"

39:9. [There is] none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou [art] his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
